The British Trust for Conservation Volunteers run a huge range of practical conservation projects every month including tree planting, forestry work, fencing, dry stone walling, laying footpaths, pond work and more!
All the projects take place in the Hull and East Riding area on Wednesdays and Thursdays – most take one morning or one afternoon session but some take a full day. Transport is provided for projects that take place outside Hull. No experience is necessary and training will be given for many projects.
There is no minimum commitment – volunteers fill in a registration form and are sent a list of the month’s upcoming activities. You can then choose which activities you’d like to help with. Remember to bring your wellies!
This is a project where volunteers help to maintain a community allotment site growing fruit, vegetables and flowers. A wide range of people use the site and volunteers could be working with young offenders, people with disabilities and people on work placements as well as the general public.
You don’t have to have had any previous experience as training will be given where needed. All you need is lots of enthusiasm and a love of gardening and working outdoors.
Volunteering takes place on Thursdays between 10am and 3pm – there is no minimum commitment and you just asked to give what time you can (term time only is fine). There may also be similar projects throughout the week that you could join in with.
