► The Volunteering Hub

Next Hull induction will be on Tuesday 2nd December at 11am in the Volunteering Hub.   Child Protection Training will follow at 11.30am.

The induction after that will take place on Friday 5th December at 11am in the Volunteering Hub.  Child Protection Training will follow at 11.30am.

All volunteers must go to an induction and all those wanting to work with children or young people must attend Child Protection Training.

Welcome to the Volunteering Hub!

We cover the Hull and Scarborough campuses of the University of Hull and we can help you give something back to the community, get some work experience, develop new skills and enhance your CV, all in one go.   See below for contact details and opening times!

Community Volunteering can be found on both campuses and helps students find voluntary roles in local charities and organisations.

HUSSO is based on the Hull campus.  Its projects are all student-led and run in-house.  Students at Scarborough campus receive support from Community Volunteering if they wish to set up and run their own volunteering projects.

RAG is on both campuses and stands for Raise and Give.  Students raise money by any (legal) means necessary in order to give to good causes.

We have a huge range of projects for you to choose from including work with young children, adolescents, young offenders, people with mental health issues, prisoners, people with learning disabilities and older people.   You can mentor, befriend, play sports, do some gardening, help in a school, go to Big Fun, drive a minibus and more!   We have just the one sign up form which means that you're able to apply for any roles on this website.

Go on, volunteer!

We know that you have lectures to go to, socials to go on and daytime TV to watch but, really, volunteering doesn't take up that much time and it doesn't just benefit others - it can do wonders for you too.

It seems a degree is no longer enough to secure your dream job these days - volunteering shows your commitment to helping others and, in some cases, to your chosen career.  A survey done by Student Volunteering England in 2006 showed that 73% of employers would rather employ someone with voluntary experience than someone without.

If you don't know what you want to do after graduation, volunteering lets you try out a range of different roles to find out what suits you best.

You can learn new skills and draw on your experience in job interviews.

   You can meet new people

You get that warm, fuzzy glow that comes from helping other people.

You can stop lamenting all the time you waste on Facebook because you are actually doing something productive with your time!

Volunteers in Scarborough get arty!
