Inaugural Lecture

9th February 2012 7:15 am
Inaugural Lecture

Inaugural Lecture
Date: Monday 6 February 2012
Title: Living in a microbial world: the good, the bad and the beautiful

Speaker: Professor Mark Osborn, Professor of Microbial Ecology, Faculty of Science, University of Hull
Venue: The Middleton Hall, University of Hull, Cottingham Road
Time: 6.00 pm
Entry: Free, all welcome

Description:
We live in a microbial world. Yet the general public has an unpopular perception of microbial life as the agents of disease. In this lecture Professor Osborn will challenge this assertion by exploring the microbial world from the poles to the tropics, to demonstrate the importance of microbial life in providing critical life-support systems to plant Earth and in the role of microbes as global degraders of man-made pollutants.
