Glenn Culbard - Hulltimate President 2006 - 2008

STATUS: GRADUATED - STILL IN HULL

I first heard of Ultimate when a young, freshed face Sean Mullen bounded up to me just outside of the AU freshers bazaar with tales of some crazy frisbee team and the promise of a free t-shirt. Well I never got the t-shirt, not for free anyway, but I did find myself joined up with the awesome group of people that are Hulltimate. To begin with it was just fun to throw a disc and meet the experienced
lot, it also meant I had some way of keeping alive after all the drinking during the first month of freshers. Towards the end of October however I was blessed with the first taste of frisbee tournaments, our first trip to Sheffield beginners! The tournament itself was awesome and saw us first out of the beginner teams, we met fantastic people from all over the UK and we were taken on a classic night out at the Sheffield Student's Union bar and club. Admittedly the Sunday was a bunch of pissed up freshers trying to work out how to throw a frisbee but it was still one of the best weekends of my time at Uni so far.

That's probably the best part of Ultimate I reckon, the weekend tournaments, but the socials on an AU night run a close second and of course it's always good to get together on a wednesday afternoon's training and catch up on the week. I'm into my final year of study now so the idea is that I get down to it and bury my head in books but there's no way I could do that without a few days of Ultimate to
at least keep my blood moving.

Apart from all that I'm on a Philosophy/politics course with Bearsy and Rob, our Social Sec and Secretary respectively, I'm from Australia but only get the accent when I drink and last year I got the team award for Best Mincer, lovely. Right now I'm just itching to get fit and back to training after a long summer out of it.
