STANDING ORDERS GOVERNING THE POST OF
VICE-PRESIDENT (WELFARE & EQUALITY)
1. Interpretation These Standing Orders shall be read in conjunction with the Constitution, Bye Laws and other relevant Standing Orders of Hull University Union and shall be interpreted accordingly.
2. Status of Officer The Vice-President (Welfare & Equality) shall be a voting member of the Board of Trustees and Union Executive Committee with responsibility for the policy, co-ordination and organisation of the Union’s welfare services.
3.
The Vice-President (Welfare & Equality) shall be elected in accordance with Hull University Union election regulations[1].
4. Duties The Vice-President (Welfare & Equality) shall carry out such duties and fulfil such obligations as arise consequent upon signing the Sabbatical Officer Contract for the post of Vice-President (Welfare & Equality). In particular, the co-ordination of the Welfare Support Services and the promotion of overall welfare matters within Hull University Union. The Vice-President (Welfare & Equality) shall also be a trustee of Hull University Union.
5. Internal The Vice-President (Welfare & Equality) shall be:
a. An Adviser within the Advice Centre (subject to the recruitment and selection process) and guarantee to spend a minimum of one afternoon per week in the Advice Centre during vacations and once elected, attend as many Wednesday afternoon training sessions as possible.
b. Responsible for liaison with the Nursery Manager with regard to support, advice and information dissemination.
c. Responsible for liaison with the Advice Centre Co-ordinator with regard to support, advice and information dissemination.
d. Available at a set time regularly to advise and support the Director of Nightline, Chair of HUSAC, Chair of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Committee, Chair of LINKS and members of the Equal Opportunities Committee.
e. Available at a set time regularly to advise and support officers of the Scarborough Executive Committee with responsibility for welfare, specifically; the Accommodation Officer and the Welfare Officer of the Executive Committee and any representatives of their sub-committees as may be necessary;
f. Chairperson of:
(i) Welfare & Equality Committee
(iii) Advice Centre Management Committee
(iv) Equal Opportunities Committee
g. Deputy Chairperson of:
(i) HUSAC
h. Voting member of:
(i) Board of Trustees
(ii) Union Executive Committee
(iii) Nightline Committee
i. Ex-officio member of:
(i) Mature Students Committee
(ii) Postgraduate Students Committee
6. External The Vice-President (Welfare & Equality) will liaise as necessary with the relevant University Departments and sit on any informal University meeting as deemed necessary.

Formal representation includes:
(i) Student Progress Committee
(v) Disabilities Committee

7. Finance The Vice-President (Welfare & Equality) shall have responsibility for the following budget heads:
