STANDING ORDERS GOVERNING THE POST OF
VICE-PRESIDENT (MEDIA & VOLUNTEERING)
 
1.     Interpretation: These Standing Orders shall be read in conjunction with the Constitution, Bye Laws and other relevant Standing Orders of Hull University Union and shall be interpreted accordingly.
 
2.     Status of Officer: The Vice-President (Media & Volunteering) shall be a voting member of the Union Executive Committee with responsibility for the Student Radio Station, Newspaper (or Magazine), Student Societies and hullstudent.com. They will also be responsible, with the Union Executive Officer (UEO) (HUSSO SCA) for HUSSO SCA.
 
3.     The Vice-President (Media & Volunteering) shall be elected in accordance with Hull University Union election regulations[1]
 
4.     Duties: The Vice-President (Media & Volunteering) shall carry out such duties and fulfil such obligations as arise consequent upon signing the Sabbatical Officer Contract for the post of Vice-President (Media & Volunteering). The Vice-President (Media & Volunteering) shall liaise with the President on any printed material that shall be released for PR purposes.
 
        In summary the duties of the VP (Media & Volunteering) will be;
 
(a)     Promotion of active citizenship amongst the student body at Hull University Union.
(b)    Attending training provided by the National Union of Journalists.
(c)     Ensure the continued publication of the Student Magazine of which they will be Editor in Chief.
(d)    Ensure the continued broadcasting of the Student Radio Station of which they will be Editor in Chief.
(e)    Responsible for liaison with the Vice-President (Scarborough Campus) and members of the Scarborough Executive Committee on matters regarding volunteering and media
(f)      Enabling students to get involved in community volunteering by providing accessible and interesting volunteering opportunities and the appropriate training.
(g)    Providing support to the UEO (HUSSO Chair) and the HUSSO SCA Executive Committee.
(h)    Providing support to the Community Volunteering Co-ordinator and team.
(i)      Enabling students to get involved in student societies through actively supporting individual societies and the Societies executive committee.
(j)      Promoting environmental awareness and recycling.
(k)     Ensure the financial security of the organisation in the long and short term.
 
5.       Internal: The Vice-President (Media & Volunteering) shall be:
 
          a.       Ex-Officio member of:
                   (1)      Broadcasting Committee
                   (2)      HULLFIRE Editorial Committee
                    (3)       Societies Executive Committee
                   (4)      HUSSO SCA Executive Committee.
 
          b.       Voting Member of:
(1)                Union Executive Committee
 
c.                   Chairperson of:
(1)      Hullstudent.com Working Group.
                    (2)      The Environmental Committee
       
6.     External: The Vice-President (Media & Volunteering) shall represent the Union to the University on the following committees:
 
(1)                University Court
(2)                Student Recruitment
 
7.     The Vice-President (Media & Volunteering) shall have responsibility for the following budget heads:
 
(1)      Broadcasting Sub Committee
(2)      HULLFIRE Editorial Committee
(3)      Hullstudent.com
(4)      Media Pack
(5)      Annual Report (in consultation with the President)
(6)      Marketing
(7)                HUSSO Student Community Action.
(8)                Societies.
(9)                Community Volunteering
