
HUU would like to thank all that attended the 2nd annual student conference “the future of Higher Education and the growing importance of the University of Hull’s ability to engage with students in a time of change” on the 17th February in Hull and 18th February in Scarborough. The conference was once again a success and hopefully was informative and enjoyed by those who attended. A special thanks goes to Vice Chancellor Prof Calie Pistorius, Pro Vice Chancellor of Learning and Teaching Prof Glen Burgess and Registrar Francis Owen. Thanks also to Derfel Owen from the Quality Assurance Agency and the NUS VP Higher Education Usman Ali. Thank you to everyone else who attended, making the conference a great occasion. Conference Overview
On the 17th of February in Hull and the 18th of February in Scarborough, HUU will be staged the student conference. The event was well attended, with around 50 students taking part in Hull throughout the day.
The conference is was open to all students and was entitled; “the future of Higher Education and the growing importance of the University of Hull’s ability to engage with students in a time of change.”
It days started Midday on the 17th and on the 2nd Floor of HUU (meeting room 1) and in WO27 in Scarborough the following day.
The event h line-up included;
• An opening presentation from HUU Sabbs and ERC.
• A plenary from the University of Hull’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Calie Pistorius.
• Presentations and opportunity to ask questions of University Senior Management.
• Interactive and engaging workshops.
• Free buffet and cakes.
• Evening debate with Hull North MP Diana Johnson, NUS VP Higher Education Usman Ali, QAA Development Officer Derfel Owen and the University Vice-Chancellor.
