Course Rep Training

All Course Reps must attend an introductory session held by the Student’s Union. The session will go through your duties as a Course Rep and will prepare you for dealing with students, SSC meetings and common issues you may come across. It is vital for all Course Reps to attend an introductory session – Even if you have been a Rep before! It is a good way for you to meet other Course Reps, get an introduction to what we are doing this year with Course Representation and to meet the new VP Education and Education Co-ordinator. All Course Reps will be provided with a handbook and wristband.

When training sessions are being offered, ALL Course Representatives will be informed via the regular Course Rep newsletter. Notices will also be posted on the Education Hub notice board. Please contact us if you need more details or want to request training.

Training Outline

Introduction Session for New Course Representatives ~ 2 hours long
This session is designed for newly elected Course Reps who have not received training before. It will introduce you to key concepts of representation, how to be effective and what to do.

Refresher session for previous Course Representatives ~ 1 hour long
This session is designed for continuing/existing Course Reps who received training in the previous academic year. It will introduce you to the new concepts in place this year and act as an opportunity for you to meet the new Vice President Education and the new Education and Representation Co-ordinator.

Meeting Skills Training ~ 1 hour 30 mins long
Meeting Skills Training is an optional session open to any volunteers at HUU, the Students’ Union. This includes Course Reps, Advice Centre Volunteers, Volunteering Hub Volunteers, AU Club Exec members, and Societies Exec members. The session lasts 1h30m and will cover how to chair a meeting, be an effective member of a committee, draft and follow action points, write a committee paper, minute a meeting, act as secretary and draft an agenda.

Advanced Course Rep Training ~ 3 hours long
An optional training session to enhance the skills of all Course Representatives.
