► Staff Issues

It is always difficult when there are serious issues with an individual member of staff. The Advice Centre can help you decide your next step, but If you are experiencing difficulties with your course you have a number of contact points:

  • Personal Supervisor: from the beginning of your studies an academic member of staff from your department, will be assigned to you as your Personal Supervisor. They are there to support you throughout your studies. They can give you advice and guidance, and/or point you in the direction of further help, support and advice. If you don’t know who your Personal Supervisor is then ask at your departmental office.
  •

  • Senior Tutor: A member of staff from another faculty who you can approach for independent support if you cannot resolve a matter internally. They are often very knowledgeable and can be very helpful to a student seeking advice on Academic Appeals, repeating years, mitigating circumstances and more.
  • Head of Department and other lectures: Some Heads of Department and members of staff are very comfortable dealing with student issues. If you feel comfortable approaching a specific member of staff or your Head of Department it may be worth speaking to them.
