This year the entire structure of HUU has changed. The new ‘zones’ give each campaign area more autonomy. Unsurprisingly the Education Zone is headed by Chris Marks, Vice-President Education. Education Zone meetings that take place every 3 week and are non-voting members of Union Council, which sits in week 2 and 12 of each semester. As the foundation stones of the Education Zone course reps are encouraged to participate in every level.
Below are the meetings of the Education Zone.
Academic Council: As Course reps you should attend this meeting. Academic Council is a mass-meeting of course reps and works to bring together reps from all faculties across the university. Many of you won’t be seeing much of each other after your training and Academic council is the perfect place to meet up and share best-practise as well as discuss and organise campaigns. Academic council also elects 3 people to sit on the Education Zone & Union Council as voting members!
Education Zone: This is the Nerve centre of all Education related representation and activism on campus. Regular meetings are held and all students are welcome. These meetings scrutinise the work of the Vice-President Education and propose policy to Union Council.
Union Council: This is one of the highest bodies of the Union. Union council scrutinises the work of the 5 full-time sabbatical offices that run the union, it also has the final say on policy put forward to it from the 4 other Zones (Welfare, Community, Governanceand Sport).
Meeting dates: The Education Zone meetings are OPEN TO ALL and take place every two weeks. For a table of Education Zone meetings, please click here.
