Asylum

Eight years ago, the Union began its Millennium Makeover starting with the building of a student night club. A few months later, along with £3.6 million, and Asylum opened its doors to the public. This year Asylum celebrated its fifth birthday - there was even cake!
Last Christmas several thousand pounds were spent in Asylum on the sound system - it is now bigger and better than ever to cater for our union events, as well as incoming guest bands, including three enormous subs!
In fact, our nightclub is so good, we won an award for
it! We are the 2004 BEDA Student Nightclub (an award which can only be awarded once!) and we’re proud of it!!
The venue itself is huge, and the main room can even hold up to 1100 people. The state of the art sound system means that we can hold gigs for chart hitting bands. Indeed, recent years have seen the likes of Razorlight, Kasabian, Happy Mondays, The Artic Monkeys, the Automatic, The Feeling, Wheatus… the list goes on! (For future guests appearances keep an eye on hullstudent.com)

Asylum is also home to Hull’s oldest, biggest and best student night, The Tower, with resident DJ Davey Jay - make sure you check it out! Past resident DJs include, Ferby, Tommy Kitten, and for those of you that can remember him, the legend that is Lionel Vinyl!
Lights, speakers, three dance floors, a long bar and a text screen… and did I mention that Asylum is available for hire? Discount rates for students, but available to the public, contact Jen Challis on 01482466253 or j.challis@hull.ac.uk for further details.
