What’s the commitment?
Students working towards Hi-lights commit to the scheme for one academic year. You should also be prepared to organise a volunteering role which requires regular commitment over the course of the year.
How does it work?
The overall aim is for students to put together a portfolio documenting their voluntary work. This portfolio is made up of a reflective diary and a series of reflective exercises which you can complete at your own pace. You will also be able to access a number of training sessions and workshops which will complement your progress through the course and offer you the chance to broaden your horizons with a series of diverse workshops including first aid and employability skills.
After a minimum of one year’s involvement, you will be invited to submit your portfolio for assessment. Candidates who show motivation, enthusiasm and a determination to challenge themselves and excel in their chosen area will be recommended for the award which will be presented at HUU’s Volunteer Awards.
