Welcome to the Volunteering Hub

The Volunteering Hub can be found on the first floor of the Union building.  We want to help you get involved with the local community, whether that's volunteering directly with people in need of extra support, helping out local organisations or raising money for work done nationally and in the local community.   The Volunteering Hub is an umbrella for the areas detailed below.   Click on the titles to go to each section's information pages.

HUSSO SCA

HUSSO (Hull University Social Services Organisation) is our student community action group. It is run by a student executive committee and it has a variety of projects devised and run by students. There’s a wide range of stuff to get involved in and, if you can’t find anything you like, we can help you set up your own project!

You can apply to volunteer for a HUSSO project at the beginning of the first or second semester.  Successful applicants must commit to volunteer for their chosen project for at least one semester.    Please follow the HUSSO SCA link above for the latest information on what is available and how to apply.  The application deadline will be Monday 6th February at 4pm.

Community Volunteering

CV is a collection of local community organisations where you can do anything from helping at a local toddler group to environmental work to working with people who are experiencing mental health problems. All these opportunities can be found on the website www.hullstudent.com/vol

If you are a local organisation or charity and would like to recruit student volunteers, please email Naomi on n.alty@hull.ac.uk for more information.  We're sorry, but we do not advertise volunteering placements overseas.

Hi-lights: The HUU Award

If you want to take part in volunteering this year, consider taking part in Hi-lights: The HUU Award.  It's an award scheme which aims to help students identify and develop the transferable skills they gain through their volunteering.  You compile a portfolio and have the opportunity to go to a number of free training events over the course of the year.  Follow the link above to find out more.  As Hi-lights is a year long scheme, sign-ups will only be taken at the beginning of semester one.
