Well here it is, at last. All the details for the end of year ball 2008 at the University of Hull. We have really pulled out the stops this year to try and ensure that this is the best ball yet. Here you can find frequently ask questions about the ball

This years ball is lining up to be the best yet, even if we do say so ourselves. Not only have we managed to get a creditable and popular artist who is winning awards at the moment as if they are swimming badges, we have also booked The Subways and Lethal Bizzle, 2 great acts as well. Zane Lowe has been bugging us to come back again this year, so we felt it only right that we let him come to make sure the night finished in style.
All the different rooms in the Union, as well as our marquee outside, will be decorated in different grease themes. The actual details as yet are still being worked on, but if you have been to the ball before, you know that we mean business when we say decorate. No rubbish drapes here thank you very much, all top quality decorations transforming the Union so that you will not recognise it.
The outside stage will stop at 12:00am as per our licence however this year, the silent disco will take over the marquee meaning that it will carry on partying until the early hours without upsetting the neighbours! Asylum and all the rooms inside will be going on until 3:30am.

Is it fancy dress / What is the dress code
No it is not fancy dress. The Grease theme is there for us to design the look of the ball , ie the different rooms of the event will be taylored to the grease theme. However the dresscode is formal / smart. It does not mean that it is fancy dress and we do nto expect peopel to hire costumes. If you wish to get dressed up for the ball then please feel free, but it must be smart, We will have artists and actors dressed as characters walking about so by dressing up you may get confused as one of those. That does not mean that you will get paid!
Will there be a meal ticket?
We are currently working on the meal tickets at the moment. We will be offering a sit down buffet style meal, Details TBC. We will nto be offering a sit down meal style ticket. We recomend that if you wish to eat a formal meal before the ball then you should book into a lcoal restaurant to eat before you come. Although we will have many different varieites of food stalls all selling food, this will not be formal.
When do tickets go on sale and how many can I buy?
Tickets go on sale on the 7th April 2008 at 10:00am and they are priced at £38 each. The ball is open to all students that study at the University of Hull. This includes Scarborough campus. It is not restricted to any year groups either, as it is the End of Year Ball for all students. The Graduation Tower which takes place over graduation is dedicated for leavers. There are 3500 ticketsd sold for this event. Last year people queued over night to buy tickets. Last year this was not needed as everyone in the queue got tickets. It did sell out by lunchtime though so don't miss-out. This year we will have the students Union open overnight so if you do choose to queue then you can inside the building. Bring your sleeping bags of you want. We will also be selling hot drinks and food this year. and showing films on the large screen in Asylum Please do not bring your own alchol with you as you will not be able to consume this. We will place 250 tickets on www.hullstudent.com/balltickets at 4pm on the 7th April for students who study away from Hull to buy.
Where does the ball take place?
The Ball takes place on the campus outside the Union and within the Union. A large stage is placed on the grounds for the acts to perform on. We will have fireworks fired over the top of the the stage, fired from the Wilberforce car park. The fairground is then located near the Drama and Chemistry departments. A marquee goes on the car park near the Wilberforce building. The marquee will have a brass band playing earlier on before turning into the casino before then later turnign into the silent disco. In essence the whole campus near the Union comes alive with atmospheric lighting and effects. It really is something to behold.
What if I want to bring a guest who is not a student?
This is fine, you can do this by emailing huu-ents@hull.ac.uk from yoru University email address with your guests

By doing this we will take it that you are bringing them as a Bona Fide guest. You therefore take responsibility for them. A student can bring 2 guests with them to the ball. They must be register before hand. You can also register them when buying tickets. Make sure you let the person you buy your ticket off now.
Will there be a photographer there?
We hope that there will be a photographer there. The building work in the Union should be finished, as long as it is, we will have space for some studios. We will definatly have our normal tottyspotting photographer around and all these photogrpahs will be displayed on www.hullstudent.com and you can download them for free. How many tickets can 1 person buy.
I person can buy 10 tickets. The reason for this is that HUU does not want you to miss lectures queueing for tickets. So by allowing someone to buy 10 tickets you can arrange for your friends to buy your tickets for you. It also allows courses such as nursing and PGCE who study off campus to arrange for 1 person to get tickets on campus for a group. In the event of tickets appearing on ebay or on posters on campus selling tickets on above face value. The tickets concerned will be cancelled and the members concerned banned from attending the ball.
