Riding

President - Clare Price

Treasurer:

Hull University Riding Club welcomes riders of all abilities. From those that have never sat on a horse to those who compete a high level. We compete two teams in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sports) in dressage and show jumping, we also hold inter-club dressage and show jumping competitions at the end of each semester so that all abilities can get involved competitively. We have weekly lessons at Bishop Burton which provides us with some of the best facilities and teaching in the country. We have access to a rider fitness and performance therapy suite which boasts two mechanical horses and specialist riding fitness equipment. We regularly attend Polo workshops which have proven a real success and we plan to launch a polo team in the near future.

Apart from the sporting side of the club we also offer traditional Wednesdays night socials run by Cat and Daisy and an annual sports tour which are great fun and will really help you to settle into university life and meet loads of new friends! As a club we also get involved in events such as the Athletic Union Dodge Ball Competition, naked calendar, super teams, Au Ball and trophy presentation.

HURC is a fantastic club to be a part of, but don’t just take our word for it…

Liz Denton-davis ‘Apprehensively I returned to riding after an eight year gap, straight away I was put at ease by Clare who reassured me that I would have a great time. I didn't really expect to stick at it but the friends I made and the high quality of lessons I recieved made me return week after week. The club is so friendly that anyone will be welcomed, Bishop Burton is an amazing place to learn how to ride and blow off some university steam. If your interested in riding and making friends for life, HURC is for you. Im so glad I did, it made my year.’

Rachel Saunders ‘i love the quality of the teaching and facilities as well as the variety of horses and the opportunity to compete in BUCS made my year tbh, so much fun and great to meet the other clubs. Im really glad i joined, will always remember it as one of the best bits about my three years in Hull’

Join HURC, you won’t regret it! We can’t wait to hear from you!
