| Athletic Union The Athletic Union (AU) has one of the biggest membership bases in the Union and offers anything from your traditional sports, such as Rugby, Football, Hockey and Netball to less traditional alternatives such as ultimate Frisbee and Sky Diving at whatever level you wish to participate. If your sport is not included the Athletic Union will do all it can to help you in setting up a new club. The structure of the clubs allows you to be involved as much or as little as you like. There is the chance of running a club through being on the club’s committee or even the Athletic Union Executive committee, remember it is your AU so you can make a difference. All clubs are run by the students, therefore by being on a club committee you are directly involved in the running of the Athletic Union, it is lots of fun and also looks great on your CV. Sport for beginners is catered for in every club, with comprehensive training and a welcoming atmosphere. The AU prides itself on working hard to play harder with the provision of quality facilities for activities on and off the pitch. The new Sports and Fitness Centre refurbishments costing around 3 quarters of a million pounds (which includes the latest Techno gym equipment, all of which is DDA compliant) combined with the official AU night out known as the legendary “Tower” (hosted in Asylum, winner of the best student nightclub in the country) make Hull a leading force in the all round provision of the University sports experience. The majority of the clubs compete in BUSA (British Universities Sports Association) on Wednesday afternoons either playing at our campus based facilities or travelling the length and breadth of the country to spread the Hull word, "WE ARE HULL!!!". |

The clubs that are not involved in competition, take regular trips throughout the year. The Athletic Union is here to cater for your sporting needs, whatever they may be the AU will do its upmost to fulfil them.
Alongside the competitive element of the AU comes the social. The AU hosts many events throughtout the year including Varsity and the Sports Ball at the end of Semester one. In addition to these two events there is the weekly post match night out in asylum – The Tower at the Union where all the teams get together, celebrate and have general banter!!
Finally, I’d like to congratulate you on choosing an excellent University and Union and would urge you to use as many of the services provided, like the Athletic Union, to make your University experience as good as it can be.
